"Sky City" has become one of Taizhou’s most popular scenic destinations.
Located atop Huangmao Mountain at an altitude of over 700 meters, this attraction spans more than 300 mu (approximately 20 hectares). The site now features scenic walking trails, custom-built cabins, windmills, tea field pavilions, and tea rooms.
Originally, this area was an old tea plantation that struggled due to a lack of infrastructure, including roads and water systems. High production and transportation costs, along with a decline in local labor, reduced profitability for the tea industry. After years of attempts, external investors lost confidence, leaving the expansive tea fields neglected.
In 2018, an ecological redevelopment initiative was launched for the Huangmao Mountain tea plantation, prioritizing agricultural growth and increasing farmer incomes. By integrating green tourism with tea-picking experiences, "Sky City" developed a "flow economy" that has achieved three main goals: transforming the village environment, revitalizing rural life, and boosting local incomes.
