Yongning Park, situated along the picturesque Yongning River, covers a total area of 444 mu (approximately 29.6 hectares) and stretches 3 kilometers along the riverbank. The entire park development was divided into two phases.
Phase One of the park extends 1.5 kilometers and spans 120 mu (approximately 8 hectares), with a total investment exceeding RMB 100 million (approximately $13.8 million). Construction began in August 2001, and the park officially opened on February 4, 2002. This section is characterized by water features, ornamental plants, and cultural sculptures. The water feature area includes a musical fountain and dry fountains, while the ornamental plant section features specialized gardens such as a pomegranate garden, osmanthus garden, and plum garden with local ornamental flora. The sculpture area includes thematic displays, like the Citrus Culture sculptures and artistic installations, each with unique local appeal.
Phase Two of the park also extends 1.5 kilometers, covering an area of 324 mu (approximately 21.6 hectares). This section emphasizes a modern and minimalist design, with a focus on ecological features and water-centric landscapes. It includes pavilions, green slopes, tree clusters, and bamboo groves, blending ecological conservation, cultural aesthetics, and recreational and fitness facilities in one space. With its contemporary and local cultural elements, Phase Two construction began on September 18, 2002, was completed in January 2004, and officially opened on January 16, 2004.
