On February 12, international students from Taizhou University visited the Huangyan Grottoes, an ancient Chinese quarry site celebrated for its breathtaking rock art and historical legacy. The “International Explorers” program offered a window into China’s natural and cultural wonders.
The students were immediately captivated by the caverns’ vast scale, intricate stone carvings, and unique geological formations shaped by centuries of natural weathering. Guided tours revealed sprawling chambers, underground springs (some reaching depths of 70 meters), and naturally illuminated murals, while stories of ancient quarrying techniques and cross-cultural stone art exchanges deepened their appreciation for China’s history.
Indonesian student Chen Liang remarked, “These caverns are more than rock art—they’re a living testament to China’s past. Each carving feels like a story waiting to be heard.” Ugandan student Li Hao added, “The engineering ingenuity here is astounding. It’s like walking through a 3D history book!”
The visit left a lasting impression, with students sharing their experiences on social media to connect global audiences with China’s cultural heritage. The International College plans to organize more such activities, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and promoting traditional Chinese culture worldwide.
