Sun Yuxi, a Huangyan-born "post-95s" playwright, has made waves with her adaptation of the Yue Opera "New Dragon Gate Inn," achieving over 1 billion views online. Transitioning from performance to playwriting due to physical reasons, she leverages her Yue Opera heritage and academic background to create innovative works.

Raised in a family immersed in Yue Opera, Sun Yuxi's early exposure and formal training laid the groundwork for her career. Her breakthrough came when Mao Weitao, a renowned Yue Opera artist, entrusted her with adapting "New Dragon Gate Inn," blending traditional elements with modern storytelling to captivate audiences.

Sun Yuxi advocates for innovation while preserving the core of traditional drama, believing it should evolve to engage contemporary viewers without losing its essence. Taizhou, her hometown, boasts a thriving Yue Opera culture with numerous private troupes and a deep-rooted tradition of integrating opera into local life.

Recognizing her talent, Huangyan District established a master studio for Sun Yuxi, focusing on drama education, research on folk opera troupes, and the interplay between opera and local customs. She aims to develop a creative drama education curriculum to introduce children to the art form and foster its development in Taizhou through a comprehensive inheritance system.

Sun Yuxi's work exemplifies the harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, showcasing how modern talents can contribute to the preservation and evolution of traditional culture.
