On the evening of July 16, the national private opera troupes' "Signature Plays" exhibition kicked off in Huangyan. Over 200 performers from 27 troupes across 17 provinces or cities took the stage at Huangyan Grottoes, Jiufeng Park, and Wudong Bridge—treating locals to a doorstep cultural feast.

At Jiufeng Park, Henan’s Yu Opera Cheng Ying Rescues the Orphan enthralled audiences. Li Xinwu’s portrayal of Cheng Ying—infusing 16 years of forbearance into his singing and poignant sleeve movements during the child-sacrifice scene—left fan Zhang Lingping exclaiming, “Worth it to catch such authentic Yu Opera nearby!”

By Huangyan Grottoes, Hainan Qiong Opera The Marriage Alliance charmed with melodious tunes. Villager Chen Yunlian filmed it: “First time hearing Qiong Opera—I’ll send it to Hainan relatives!”

Near Wudong Bridge, Min Opera The Mud Horse Rescues Prince Kang drew evening strollers. Mr. Zhou smiled: “Listening to Min Opera by the ancient bridge with flowing water—summer perfection!”

Offstage, the “opera wonder fair” buzzed: youth snapped cultural creatives, while intangible heritage booths drew crowds. “Came for parents, got hooked by cultural creatives—a real ‘cultural feast’!” laughed Lin Zijie. Huangyan’s nights shine bright with opera magic!
