Eighty years ago, good triumphed over evil, light over darkness, and progress over reactionary forces. The victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War restored China’s standing as a major power, won the Chinese people the respect of peace-loving nations worldwide.

In the midst of this life-and-death struggle, Huangyan—an ancient and resilient land—refused to yield. Under the leadership of the CPC Huangyan County Committee (established in May 1928 and reestablished in May 1938), the local populace united in resistance. With Lin Sizhai serving as Secretary and its office based at Maoshe Primary School, the Committee carried out a range of revolutionary work: Lin Sizhai founded the "National Salvation Association" and organized the "Children's Visiting Group" there; in addition, the Committee used political work teams and National Salvation Office to conduct anti-Japanese national salvation publicity activities, published the weekly Jiaozhan (War Education), and established drama troupes and singing teams to stage anti-war plays and teach salvation songs.

From September 1938 to June 1945, Japanese forces launched eight airstrikes and invaded Huangyan twice, burning homes and public buildings, and killing civilians. Recorded casualties reached 2,491, with property losses of 2.43 million yuan.

Huangyan's soldiers also fought courageously on front lines across China. Wang Yujiu died breaking through enemy lines in the Nanchang Campaign and was posthumously honored as Lieutenant General. Pilot Wang Tianxiang shot down multiple enemy aircraft before falling in the August 13 Shanghai Air Battle.

As we mark the 80th anniversary of this victory, the smoke of war may have cleared, but history must not be forgotten. We must learn from the past, honor the sacrifices made, and carry forward the spirit of resistance. By cherishing peace and promoting patriotism, we continue advancing toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
