Eight Writers from Eight Nations Decode "Yongning Stories" – 2025 Huangyan International Literary Tour Kicks Off

On the morning of September 26, a media briefing for the "Flowing World, Yongning Stories" initiative – marking the launch of the 2025 Huangyan International Literary Tour – was held at Chen Danyan Rose Study, a literary hub in Taizhou. Eight writers from Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Brazil, Hungary, Burkina Faso, and Portugal gathered to share their impressions of Huangyan's cultural tapestry.

During the five-day immersive tour, the writers explored the Yongning River Sci-Tech Innovation Zone, Huangyan Grottoes, Shabu Celadon Kiln (a millennium-old site), and the poetic "Sky City" scenic spot. They also experienced Xinqian martial arts, learned the Huangyan dialect, and marveled at how "the land's transformations mirror the growth of stories" – a metaphor for Huangyan's enduring cultural legacy.

At the briefing, Patricio Ferrari, an Argentine poet, praised Xinqian Night Market's vibrancy: "When sudden downpours sweep through, smiles emerge from every corner." Zhang Yilin, an Australian-Chinese writer, humorously noted, "Now, whenever I eat mandarins – especially Huangyan mandarins – worldwide, I'll think of Huangyan." Sharlene Kino, a New Zealand Māori storyteller, drew parallels between Huangyan's reverence for tradition and her own Māori heritage. Rudolf Hessler, a Swiss poet, reflected, "Travel breaks cultural echo chambers. China's distance fuels curiosity – and this journey will surely inspire my verses."

The tour, conceived by Chen Danyan Rose Study to invite global perspectives on China, exemplifies Huangyan's "culture-strong district" strategy. Chen Jian of Yongning Industrial Investment Group emphasized, "These stories will become Huangyan's literary calling cards, bridging local narratives with global audiences."

Hosted by the Shanghai Writers’ Association, the Publicity Department of the CPC Huangyan District Committee, and the Huangyan District Federation of Literary and Art Circles, undertaken by Taizhou Yongning Industrial Investment Group, and executed by the Huangyan District Writers’ Association, Duoyun Bookstore · Huangyan Branch , and the Chen Danyan Rose Study, the event is a key step for Huangyan to advance its "culture-strong district" strategy, a successful international people-to-people and cultural exchange, and a vivid and valuable "Huangyan model" for "telling Chinese stories well."
