"The moment I cut down the rice with a sickle, I felt like I was truly touching the pulse of rural China!" said Han Chao, one of Taizhou’s Overseas Communication Ambassadors, as he and his Egyptian wife Nouran Ahmed joined the 3rd “Fragrant Rice Adventure?Joyful Harvest” Yuanqiao Common Prosperity Market on October 25. Through their foreign lens, the couple captured vivid scenes of China’s countryside in its golden season.

In Hengjing Village, golden rice waves ripple in the autumn breeze. Along the ridges, rows of stalls display local specialties—turning the fields into a lively open-air marketplace. “These are the tastes I grew up with! You must try them!” Han said, guiding his wife toward the handmade mochi stall. Steam rose as warm rice cakes were dusted with soybean flour. One bite, and Nouran’s eyes lit up. “It’s softer and more natural than any dessert I’ve had before!” she exclaimed.

From osmanthus wine to shrimp balls, the couple sampled everything they could find. Even the locally produced bottled water caught Nouran’s curiosity. She snapped photos to share with friends and family in Egypt: “I want them to see how rich and authentic Chinese rural life is!”
In the farm experience zone, they joined villagers to harvest rice and watch the traditional threshing process. Later, at the “Yuanqiao Good Rice” tasting, they sampled freshly steamed local rice. “The aroma is strong and the texture tender—one of the best I’ve had,” Nouran said. Han added, “Our village has changed so much—from simple farmland to a place to play, eat, and learn.”

As the sun set over the golden fields, the couple posed for photos, their smiles glowing like the harvest around them. For them, the day went beyond celebration—it was a window into the vitality of modern rural China.
With more Overseas Communication Ambassadors like Nouran stepping into China’s villages, stories like Yuanqiao’s will continue to cross mountains and seas—showing the world the charm, energy, and promise of China’s countryside.
